Staying safe from scams

Online shopping scams are on the rise, and some people set up fake Instagram accounts or WhatsApp numbers pretending to be small shops. Before you pay anyone, keep these points in mind.

Any other account or number claiming to be klothing is not us.

Things we will never do

  • Message you first on Instagram or WhatsApp asking for payment when you haven't placed an order.
  • Ask for your card number, CVV, one-time password (OTP), or online banking or app login.
  • Send you a link to "log in to claim a prize", "verify your identity" or "unfreeze your order".
  • Ask you to pay a personal account, or any account whose payee name isn't KLOTHING.
  • Ask for a deposit because you've "won" something or for a "flash clearance".

How to check it's really us

  1. Open WhatsApp or Instagram from the links on our website, never from a link a stranger sends you.
  2. Check the Instagram handle is exactly (Instagram coming soon). Fake accounts often add a dot, an underscore or an extra letter.
  3. Check the WhatsApp number is (contact details coming soon).
  4. Before paying, check the payee name is KLOTHING and the amount matches your order.
  5. Still unsure? Enter your order number and mobile number on order lookup to see whether the order really exists.

If you think you've been scammed

  • Stop paying, and keep the chat and transfer records.
  • Contact us through the official channels above to check.
  • Call the Hong Kong Police Anti-Scam Helpline on 18222, or use Scameter to check suspicious accounts, phone numbers and websites.
  • If you've already paid, report it to the police as soon as possible.
